INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION


The department of Pharmacology, Government Medical College, Nanded was established on 17th January 1990. The Medical council of India recognized this department for undergraduate courses first time on 1994. The annual intake capacity of undergraduates is 100. Medical council of India inspected this department for postgraduate courses on Nov 2009. The annual intake capacity of postgraduates is 02.

MISSION


The broad goal of teaching pharmacology to the undergraduate student’s is to apply basic principles of pharmacology and therapeutics and to inculcate a rational and scientific basis of therapeutics.While the overall goal of post graduate pharmacology training is to acquire knowledge, skills and attitude that will enable the students to function as an academician or as a research scientist or adviser in academic, research , corporate or administrative setup.

3) Dr. V.V.Khadke, working as associate professor, joined this institute on 21 /10/2015. He is a recognized post graduate teacher . He has 21 years of experience in teaching the subject.

The department of Pharmacology situated in the OPD premises. The details are as follows


1) LaboratoriesTwo clean and airy laboratories (Pharmacy and experimental Pharmacology) .Well equipped having a capacity of 50 students.

2) Clinical Pharmacology laboratory is also available

3) Research laboratoryone research laboratory well equipped. Instruments for post graduate research are available.

4) Departmental library cum seminar room one room having capacity of 20 persons. Total number of books available are 120.Indian and foreign Pharmacology journals are also available.

5) Museumone museum of 37 sqmt size. In this museum drug samples are arranged system wise and the total number of drug samples are 500. Catalogues (915)of the drug samples are made available to the students. There are different charts showing the site and mechanism of drug action. There is a separate section showing the history of Pharmacology. In addition to this the museum also contains photograph of the scientists, plant photographs and adverse drug reaction photographs.

6) Animal housecentrally located six rooms are available. Steel cages for the animals are present. Facilities for animal experimentation are available. Various animals like mice, rat, rabbit & guinea pig are kept. Staff of the animal house is as follows-
